I looked around ebay and elsewhere for door hinge stud guide/protectors that would meet the goal of removing and replacing the doors safer and easier; 1) made of stainless steel to assure no corrosion, I've seen some being sold that are ABS plastic 2) top and bottom guides cover the ENTIRE length of the hinge stud, including both the threaded and smooth parts of the stud, this will significantly aid in protecting the stud from corrosion by not leaving any portion of it exposed. 3) internally beveled so that the guide precisely matches the guide of the hinge plate on the door, this will ensure stronger support of the guide, I've noticed that many of the samples being sold don't engage the beveled portion of the hinge stud but rather leave it exposed. 4) feature that allows tightening the guides on, I found early on that unless they were snugged against the hinge stud's bevel they could vibrate off (good-bye nice new SS guide). Some of the other products I've seen have no way of tightening them without grabbing them with pliers or similar tools. On the other end of the spectrum, I've seen others that had full hex heads for tightening. That leaves six somewhat sharp edges that could cause damage to the plastic wear bushings inside the bore of the truck mounted portion of the hinge. 5) externally beveled on the bottom or insertion end for an easier entry into the truck-side hinge bore 6) make the upper or top guide longer than the bottom or lower guide so you only have to align one one at a time for entry into the bore I'm not trying to "bash" anyone else's product I just couldn't find any that accomplished all that I thought they should so I designed my own. Yes, they're a bit more expensive than some of the others but none of those accomplish all that these do. They are handmade one at a time using a manual engine lathe. These internally threaded hinge stud guides/thread protectors made from 300 series stainless steel will cut significant reduce the time and effort for removing and reinstalling your doors. Reduces the risk of scratching the paint on your Jeep when removing and installing the doo rs. Remove your doors, screw on the guides and tighten lightly with a 3/8” wrench or small adjustable wrench. That's it, you're DONE! Top sleeve is longer than the bottom making rehanging of the doors easier. You can get the top hinge pin started in the upper hinge bore before the bottom even comes in contact with its bore.
